You’ve heard me talk about emotions and beliefs. But why are they so important? Can we just bury the past and move on?

EMOTIONS
What they are and how they affect you.

Emotions are not just an invisible idea, they are physical molecules called neuropeptides. As we experience life we are constantly feeling different emotions. The positive ones of joy and love we want more of. It’s the negative feelings of fear, anger, resentment, embarrassment grief, low self confidence that cause imbalance in the body. You’ve experienced this in action: have you ever “felt” embarrassed or thought you were going to be embarrassed… and your face turned beet red?

That’s molecules of emotions having a physical effect on the body.

Candace Pert a well known psychoneuroimmunologist established this fact. Molecules of emotion change the chemistry and electricity of every cell in the body. Feelings literally alter the electrical frequencies generated by our bodies producing a nonverbal communication.

BELIEFS
What they are and how they affect you

  • I’m not good enough
  • Nothing ever works out for me
  • Relationships never last
  • I just don’t like healthy food
  • I could never do that

Do you believe any of these statements?

 

Beliefs are filters through which you see the world. They are stored in the subconscious and affect every thought, feeling, action and experience you have.

You may consciously want to be happy, lose weight, be in a loving relationship but if your subconscious beliefs don’t align with this, you will be blocked. You will find yourself in a daily struggle.
It’s like having one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake. You can’t get anywhere and burn through a ton of energy.


Can you imagine what it would be like if you believed:

"I am worthy”
“I can accomplish anything”
“It’s easy for me to make changes

You’ve likely read about belief in action, the “placebo” effect. This is a frustration for researcher who want to compare their treatments to a new medicine or treatment. Placebo test subjects will see improvement with their sugar pills.
Why? They believe they are being treated.

A study published in the July 2002 New England journal of medicine compared the effects arthroscopic knee surgery and placebo surgery!
The results were the patients that had real surgery had the same results as the placebo surgery.


Why? They believed they were having surgery.
Instead of placebo effects being dismissed they should be studied and used to help people.

Where do these beliefs come from?

Most of our subconscious programming comes from childhood. Up until age 6 a child’s brain wave cycles resemble someone in a hypnotic state. Why is that important?

You may want to imagine yourself as a little child walking around in a permanent state of hypnosis, being programmed by the environment, open to suggestion, in a super learning state. Everything is about you and because of you.

Ok. Take a deep breath it’s all going to be ok. There is something you can do about it.

If you have experienced negative events in your past such as: loss of a loved one, divorce, abuse, neglect, loneliness, accidents or others too numerous to mention.

If you battle with feelings of inadequacy, anger, low self esteem, can’t reach your goals, feel like every day is a struggle, you likely have limiting beliefs that need to transform.

We have all experiences negative events from our past or have limiting beliefs affecting our health and our life.
I find it every day in my practice.
For example if you believe you are stuck and can’t let go of the past, it can lead to symptoms such a constipation and other digestive upset.
